Poemishness

Greetings. :)

Yes, poemishness is not a real word. But sometimes you have to make up a word to truly say what you're trying to say. Anyway!

This is Sylvia and I've cooked up another poem. Today I had a tougher school day, so I thought I'd write a poem to express my feelings. It doesn't rhyme at all - it's meant to convey emotion rather than stick to any rules or meter. I hope you enjoy it. Maybe some of it will ring true with you, as well! (Though I hope you have as few hard school days as possible.)

The Escape

I can’t think
My cells are dissolving into the blackness of insanity.
Math, what is math?
Interests and percents scrawl across the page
Smeary gray where my hand has brushed over them.
Literature, what is this madness?
Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Herman Melville
They seek to open up the vaults of gloom
With their ravens and scarlet letters and whales.
Spanish, a confusion of sounds
You are a tongue that mine cannot pronounce
No matter how hard I try.
Help
I collapse on my bed, limp
Curled into a ball of paralysis.
The world is convulsing as my thoughts scrabble uselessly
Against the pale walls of my brain.
School laughs mercilessly in the corner
And Deadline stands threatening
Waving the filled calendar back and forth in front of my face.
I drift towards the brink of emptiness
My senses swirl
Falling, tumbling, plunging down over the edge of reason.
Suddenly
A hand reaches from nowhere and clutches mine.
I float to a stop
And open my eyes.
They stand in a group around me, warm and comforting
Arms outstretched to take me in.
I know them all.
They have been given many names by others who do not understand:
Imaginary, fake, fictional, childish.
But I know these people for who they are
And I love them
With all my heart.
Smiling, knowing, they take me into their worlds
Where I dance for joy in the rain under the sunshine.
The valleys are green there
And the stars are vast.
Trees spread for miles across the mountains
Waterfalls laugh over the jeweled rocks
And I lose myself
In webs of song.
Soon I must return to my world
To take up again the responsibilities that have been allotted to me.
And when I do
I will conquer them with new strength
Because of the stories that I have taken part in.
They will always be there, waiting for me
Because they know
That everyone who has ever lived in this world
Has experienced the longing
For an escape.

Autumn Is Here! (No, Just Kidding)

Hello, readers!

Lately the weather has been in that undecided state where it can't remember if it's summer or autumn, so it gives you a strange mix of both. A week or so ago it felt very much like autumn - all cool and crisp, with a blanket of clouds over the sky. So Kirsten went outside to enjoy it. :)

The first autumn leaf...

Playing in a haystack!

What's the weather like for you, readers? As I (Sylvia) write this, it feels like summer again - hot, flat, sluggish summer. Oh, well. ;)

Whatever the weather may be, have a lovely day!

Mid-Season Interview Q&A

Hello, readers!

We didn't get as many questions as we thought we would, but here's the interview all the same. ;)

~     ~     ~

Anika: How many seasons of Cyberfantasy do you think you will post?

Sylvia: Right now, we've only planned one season. However, this season could have a whole lot of episodes! We're still not sure how many, though. :)

~     ~     ~

Anonymous: How did you come up with the idea for this great photostory?

Saige: A few of our relatives had been writing fantasy and sci-fi stories around the time we were brainstorming for our series. We wanted to make our story sci-fi-ish, but still taking place on Earth, so readers would feel like it could possibly happen in the future someday... ;)

Sylvia: Yeah - and we also wanted to make our heroine very ordinary and not exactly wanting to go on any adventures. A Bilbo Baggins sort of character. Someone without any special gifts or superpowers... someone like me. Haha.

~     ~     ~

Well, that's all for now, folks! We only got two questions this time, but that's totally fine. Thank you Anika and Anonymous for commenting! As the series continues, we'll probably do another interview, so if you missed out on this one, don't worry. ;)

Have a lovely day!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Cyberfantasy: Episode 4

Hello, readers!

We're back from our hiatus! Hope you all have had a lovely July. Now, to start us back into our blogging groove, how about another episode of Cyberfantasy? :)

Episode 4

Well, for a fact, I was not equipped for any type of travel. I seldom like to leave my comfortable apartment except to go to work, and even then, I try to get home as soon as possible. I’m definitely an introvert.

And now Sona wanted to know if I was ready for extensive travel. I wondered how much money was in my bank account, and how much I could actually spend on a crazy journey.

“Sona... I’m, uh... well, not exactly poor,” I said out loud, “but I’m not rich either. Where will we have to go? How much money will I need?”

By extensive travel, I mean that you will be required to exert a considerable amount of physical energy.
As for money, you will only require enough to reach the bus station. One of my human assistants will be waiting in the empty lot nearby.

“Oh, well - that makes it easy,” said Chloe. “When shall we start?”

Immediately.
However, it is vital that you leave any electronics behind. They are dangerous and unpredictable in this situation.

“How will we speak to you if I don’t bring my laptop or phone?” I asked, at the same time trying to suppress my sense of alarm at the mention of “exerting considerable amounts of physical energy”. What was I getting myself into?

My assistant Bria is able to communicate with me without the use of electronics. Once you have met up with her, you should have no trouble.
I hope this is all satisfactory.
There was that sarcasm again.

“Sounds good. We’ll leave as soon as we can,” said Chloe, getting up and beginning to clear the plates and napkins off the table.

After putting the remains of the pizza into the fridge, I found my backpack and stuffed it with granola bars and a few waterbottles. I really had no idea what I was doing - the only other “adventure” I had ever been on was a hike with Chloe. That hadn’t turned out so well, because I’d forgotten to bring myself any provisions.
Yeah... not fun.

“What about Tanuki?” said my friend suddenly. “You can’t just leave him here.”

Surprisingly, I had already thought of this. “Oh, I’m going to ask the neighbor next door if she can watch him. We’re acquaintances, and she’s offered to watch him before.”

Chloe nodded. “All right. Let's go bring him over."

I opened the door and we stepped outside.
It felt strange to be leaving the house without my phone - it was almost like it had become a part of me. Uncomfortable thought.

Chloe waited while I locked the door.

My neighbor was more than happy to care for Tanuki... I think she really likes cats.
Anyway, I shouldered my backpack, put the apartment key in my pocket, and looked at Chloe.

“Are we really doing this?”

“Yes, we are,” she replied, taking a deep breath.

Then, side by side, we headed out into the busy city to find Bria.

Ahhhhh... it's so good to be back. :) Have a lovely day!

Summer Break... Again

Hello, readers!

You may remember from last year that we like to take a break every summer - to relax, finish random projects, and basically just catch up on life. Well, that time has come again. We'll be gone from here until the first week of August.

Thank you so much for being understanding about this... at least, we hope you understand. ;) We just need a time to get refreshed, re-inspired, and ready for another round of blogging. We are always so ready to come back at the end of our break!

So enjoy your summer, everyone! Relax, eat ice cream, finish projects, and have fun. We'll be back before you know it. :)

Caroline Says Farewell to Spring

Hello, everyone!

It is I, Sylvia. We've hit that time of the year when Spring's last flowers are dropping to the ground and fading away, while Summer, chuckling gleefully in the distance, is preparing to throw her blanket of heat over the land.

Well folks, that was my moment of poetry for today. Now on to a photoshoot, in which Caroline says farewell to the last of the cool weather. :)

Have a lovely day!
