Hello, readers!
Every once in a while I (Sylvia) get the urge to go on an adventure... to fight imaginary monsters or search for buried treasure. Today I put on my "adventuring" outfit, grabbed a treasure map and went outside to let my imagination run wild. Mom snapped some pictures. Enjoy! :)

Do you like to go "adventuring"? Tell me about some of your adventures, and have a lovely day! :)

Fashion Fun #6: Early Spring Ensembles

Hello, everyone!
It's been way too long since we've done a round of Fashion Fun. During the last few days, Mom has been sewing some new clothing pieces for us, so we thought it would be fun to feature them today in round #6 of Fashion Fun: Early Spring Ensembles. We've posted the rules below. Have fun!

1) There are four categories: Tops, Bottoms, Shoes, and Layering/Accessories (optional). Pick an item from each category to create your own outfit!

2) You may pick up to two items from the Layering/Accessories category (or none at all).

3) Specify which one of us you'd like to model your outfit. If you don't, that's okay - we'll just pick for you. :)

4) Each person may create only one clothing combination. (This just makes things less complicated for us.)

5) Post your combination in the comments.

6) Have fun!!!

All right, here are your options:

Striped Tee

White Top

Turquoise Tee

Denim Jeans
(specify if you want the cuffs rolled up or not)

Floral Shorts

Floral Skirt

Saige's Meet Boots

Tan Work Shoes

Brown Sandals

Green Army Jacket

Turquoise Necklace

(specify if you want them worn over the eyes or on the head)

There you have it, folks! Please comment your combinations by February 27th. (That's one week from now.) We'll post the results sometime between the 28th and January 3rd.
We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Rainy Day Reflections

Hello, readers!
Wow, it's been a while since I (Sylvia) typed that. Time sort of flew by these past months. Sorry about our long absence! I wish I had a good excuse for our disappearance, such as "school" or "sickness" or "unexpected circumstances"... but in reality it was just plain laziness that kept us away. My apologies.
But now we're back, and it's our goal to post at least once a week. How were your holidays? Are you enjoying 2017 so far? For us, things are going pretty well.
Today it's raining - hooray! Mom snapped some photos of Caroline watching the droplets stream down our window. Hope you like them. :)

I've put a poll up on the sidebar for ya'll to vote on - we're trying to see what you like best about our blog. We'll try to be consistent in posting whatever gets the most votes.
     Have a lovely day!

Greetings. :)
Yes, poemishness is not a real word. But sometimes you have to make up a word to truly say what you're trying to say. Anyway!
This is Sylvia and I've cooked up another poem. Today I had a tougher school day, so I thought I'd write a poem to express my feelings. It doesn't rhyme at all - it's meant to convey emotion rather than stick to any rules or meter. I hope you enjoy it. Maybe some of it will ring true with you, as well! (Though I hope you have as few hard school days as possible.)

The Escape

I can’t think
My cells are dissolving into the blackness of insanity.
Math, what is math?
Interests and percents scrawl across the page
Smeary gray where my hand has brushed over them.
Literature, what is this madness?
Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Herman Melville
They seek to open up the vaults of gloom
With their ravens and scarlet letters and whales.
Spanish, a confusion of sounds
You are a tongue that mine cannot pronounce
No matter how hard I try.
I collapse on my bed, limp
Curled into a ball of paralysis.
The world is convulsing as my thoughts scrabble uselessly
Against the pale walls of my brain.
School laughs mercilessly in the corner
And Deadline stands threatening
Waving the filled calendar back and forth in front of my face.
I drift towards the brink of emptiness
My senses swirl
Falling, tumbling, plunging down over the edge of reason.
A hand reaches from nowhere and clutches mine.
I float to a stop
And open my eyes.
They stand in a group around me, warm and comforting
Arms outstretched to take me in.
I know them all.
They have been given many names by others who do not understand:
Imaginary, fake, fictional, childish.
But I know these people for who they are
And I love them
With all my heart.
Smiling, knowing, they take me into their worlds
Where I dance for joy in the rain under the sunshine.
The valleys are green there
And the stars are vast.
Trees spread for miles across the mountains
Waterfalls laugh over the jeweled rocks
And I lose myself
In webs of song.
Soon I must return to my world
To take up again the responsibilities that have been allotted to me.
And when I do
I will conquer them with new strength
Because of the stories that I have taken part in.
They will always be there, waiting for me
Because they know
That everyone who has ever lived in this world
Has experienced the longing
For an escape.

Autumn Is Here! (No, Just Kidding)

Hello, readers!
Lately the weather has been in that undecided state where it can't remember if it's summer or autumn, so it gives you a strange mix of both. A week or so ago it felt very much like autumn - all cool and crisp, with a blanket of clouds over the sky. So Kirsten went outside to enjoy it. :)

The first autumn leaf...

Playing in a haystack!

What's the weather like for you, readers? As I (Sylvia) write this, it feels like summer again - hot, flat, sluggish summer. Oh, well. ;)
Whatever the weather may be, have a lovely day!
