A Sea of Gold

Hello, readers! This is Saige, and I'll be doing one of my rare posts today.
Yesterday, Mom was visiting some family and brought me along. We all went to the California Poppy Reserve, and it was so pretty! I almost felt like I was back in New Mexico! (In case you haven't read my books, New Mexico is where my home used to be until I came to live here.)

This is what you could see from the road... no poppies yet.

Here are the poppies!

There were also lots of these tiny yellow flowers.
There were so many, it was like a sea of gold! Hence, the name of the post.

In case you can't tell, it was super windy.
Mom held on to me most of the time, or I would have blown right down the hillside!

There were some purple flowers at one spot.
It looked so beautiful, mingling with the orange and gold.

So much wind!

We were watching a bird hop around with a caterpillar in its mouth,
wondering where it would go. Imagine our surprise when it hopped right
over to a nestful of baby birds! There were four of them, right next to the dirt road.
We hope that they're still safe, with all the cars driving by!

Isn't that picture just gorgeous?

I had a lovely time yesterday, and wished that I'd brought a sketchbook with me. :)
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Curls Again!

Hi, guys (or should I say girls, as most of you readers probably are), it's Sylvia! And this post is about Saige's hair. Random, I know. But stick with me here.
When Saige arrived at our house, she had beautiful, bouncy, curly hair. And it was so beautifully shiny and beautiful. It would catch the light in such a beautiful way. Did I mention that Saige's hair was beautiful? :)
Anyway, for some reason, her hair started losing its curl! Saige wasn't terribly troubled about it. I was, but we won't go into that. I asked her to let me experiment with her hair, and see if I could get it all wavy and bouncy again. She didn't know better, and said yes. So I got to work.

Behold my work of art!

Kirsten came to me and asked what on earth I was doing to poor Saige!
I told Kirsten, "Curling her beautiful hair."
Kirsten just shook her head hopelessly.
She did not have faith in my hair-curling powers yet.
YET.

Take a look at this!

Beautiful, huh? ;)

Saige was very pleased with the results. As for Kirsten... well, let's just say that she was pleasantly surprised. Me? I was not surprised at all, but very pleased indeed. To quote Mrs. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice, "Oh, I knew how it would be!" (If you are a P&P fan, let us know. We'd love to have a chat about it.)

Well, that's all for today. Can't wait to hear from you in the comments!

-Sylvia

P.S. Hi everyone, this is Saige. I wanted to let you all know that what Sylvia says about my hair is greatly exaggerated... don't believe everything she says about me! She is quite biased! :)
